The main plan comes in a “5 and 1″ format that is clinically proven to cut excess and unhealthy weight from your body and has been described as having the potential to lower your weight by 2 to 5 pounds a week. Generally, each day you will eat five of the specially designed Medifast meals and one “Green and Lean” meal, which contains one serving of lean protein and non-starchy vegetables. This can be included at any point into the schedule to offer more flexibility.
Even after you have completed the main Medifast program there is also “The Maintenance Plan” that ensures you have a natural transition into life after the diet. This completely new program sets new goals and approaches multiple aspects to ensure that you can prevent regaining any weight that you may have lost over the diet. As you come out of the Medifast “5 and 1,” you transition into the “Maintenance Plan” and slowly reintroduce your own healthy food recipes as well as increase the amount of calories to meet your body’s requirement.
