History of BetaAPP

The work leading up to the BetaAPP project began back in June 2004, starting with the WebAPP version 0.9.9.1 as a base, at a site called "More WebAPP Site" at wideopensources.com, where at one time contributors included quite an active and enthusiastic group. Periodically, phases of this work were introduced back in to the "official" WebAPP script at web-app.org, as versions:

Following the closure of the web-app.org site on May 20 2006, BetaAPP was also instrumental in the bug fixes and security patches involved in "WebAPP NE" versions 0.9.9.3.3NE of late June 2006 and 0.9.9.3.4NE of late August 2006, of the WebAPP Network Group at www.web-app.net.

Upon re-opening of the WebAPP site at its original location, www.web-app.org, on Sept. 7 2006, all BetaAPP work to date went into WebAPP version 0.9.9.3.5, released to the public on September 9, 2006 to celebrate WebAPP being back online.

Some of these versions have consisted of mainly small bug fixes and patches for security issues that were brought to light, and some versions included major upgrades and additions of new features. The most major feature upgrade was with version 0.9.9.3, released as an anniversary present to WebAPP for it's 4th birthday, on Jan 3 2006. Most of the later parts of work on that version, beginning with 0.9.9.3 beta, was done in the forums at the WebAPP site itself from late October of 2005 through the version release date.

During the later days at web-app.org, BetaAPP took on an identity of its own in order to gain the ability to move ahead with development regardless of the status of the web-app.org site or other related projects. Thus the creation of the domain name betaapp.org and this website.
